Importing to Russia: common questions
- Is there an age limit for importing used cars into Russia?
- Russia currently has no strict age limit on used-car imports.
- What duty and taxes apply on import into Russia?
- Used cars are cleared at fixed rates per cm3 of engine capacity (not ad valorem), under EAEU Council Decision 107 (20 Dec 2017), Appendix 2, Table 2. Cars 3-5 years old: EUR 1.5/cm3 (up to 1000cc), 1.7 (1001-1500), 2.5 (1501-1800), 2.7 (1801-2300), 3.0 (2301-3000), 3.6 (over 3000). Cars over 5 years: EUR 3.0, 3.2, 3.5, 4.8, 5.0 and 5.7/cm3 respectively. A customs processing fee of RUB 775-30,000 applies by declared value, plus a utilization (recycling) fee. Cars under 3 years are taxed ad valorem: 48-54% of value, but not less than EUR 2.5-20/cm3 depending on price.
