- CBU imports of new cars have been allowed since 1999. Import tariff is about 50% for cars from outside free-trade partners (10% on foreign luxury cars), plus VAT and a luxury-goods tax. Used passenger cars are not normally importable. Indonesia drives on the left, so it requires right-hand drive — our China stock is left-hand drive.
